UniCentral is a modern student accommodation facility offering a secure environment for students, directly adjacent to the University of the Sunshine Coast campus.

Our PABX system does not support modems on phone lines. This means that whilst living at UniCentral you will need to connect to our internet supplier. The connection fee is $30.00 – once you are connected and have purchased an internet plan you will receive unlimited free intranet connection between your bedroom/study and the University's library facilities. High speed broadband is available in the following plans:
- 2000/512k service at $30.00 per month (includes 1Gb downloads)
- 2000/512k service at $48.00 per month (includes 3Gb downloads)
Extra download blocks are available:
- 250Mb Download Block - $10 per block
- 500Mb Download Block - $15 per block
- 1Gb Download Block - $30 per block
An Intranet is a private internal communication system, similar to the internet, where you can access internal organisational information. As a student of the Sunshine Coast University, you will be able to access information including the University library through the Intranet, which is not available to outsiders.
It may help to think of the intranet as a private internet facility just for students and staff of USC.
Each resident allocates their own email address when completing the initial application. For example: jsmith@unicentral.net.au All bedrooms have high speed ISDN connection points.
Megabytes and Downloads
What is a megabyte (MB)?

What is a download?
A download is data that you transfer from a website or server to your computer. This would include emails, text, images, DVD footage or music. Downloads use up your megabytes and contribute to your internet usage. Each bedroom has a private phone, there are no connection fees, or line rental and UniCentral provides free internal phone calls. This service is provided so as you have access to night time security, triple 000 emergency number, and of course your friends staying at UniCentral.
This means you can call others within the complex free of charge. You can receive phone calls free of charge.
Phone calls made to outside numbers cost money, approximately .45 cents for a local call. You need to pre-pay for outside phone calls. We suggest you purchase a credit of approximately $20.00, but this will vary dependent on your phone usage. You will need a minimum of $10.00 balance at anytime to make an international phone call or a call to a mobile phone. When you run out of credit the phone, will not work.
You can bring your own bedding and linen to UniCentral, or you can order a new linen package. The package costs $240.00, you can place an order on line when completing your application.
Good quality - used and laundered linen packages are also available to purchase, these cost $170.00.
The package includes:

- One Doona (continental quilt or comforter)

- Two towels
- One bath mat
- One face washer
- One hand towel

UniCentral kitchens include all the necessary equipment to make most meals.

- Cookware – All you will need to prepare, cook and serve meals. Saucepans, frypans, cutting board, knives microwave dishes, colander and basic cooking utensils.
- Crockery – Dinner plates, bowls, cups, glasses and cutlery

Professional cleaning of the common areas of all UniCentral apartments takes place once every two week. The cleaning roster is included in your resident handbook. This service includes cleaning the hard surfaces, the common room floor, kitchen, laundry and outdoor areas of each townhouse. UniCentral asks for your assistance in making it possible for the cleaning staff to undertake this necessary duty, by tidying common areas and moving personal items from common areas into your private bedrooms. You need to make sure the dishes have been washed and put away, so the cleaner can clean the bench tops and stove. Remember to put your rubbish out in the bins provided every day.
You will be expected to keep your common room tidy and clean at all other times.
We provide you with a mop, broom and vacuum cleaner for this purpose; we will also provide you with a new vacuum cleaner bag on request.
